Fortieth song - Beatles medley

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' American debut on the Ed Sullivan show on Feb. 9, 1964, I decided to a musical tribute to the Fab 4 here in Ottawa. A lot of my fellow musicians gathered together and we spent the afternoon playing song after song. As I am writing this I am still all warm and fuzzy from the good vibes that were created at the Prescott this evening. So many friends showed up to support this night and make it what it was.

My old friend Al Fleming along with the members of Bacon Tree played two killer sets of Beatles tunes. There were people I played with tonight that I miss playing with and who brought me back to the old days like Mike Belajac and Roch Lefleur and of course the one and only Corey Sullivan. I miss playing Beatle songs  with Corey and tonight brought us together again. There were some wonderful impromptu appearances - by Jesse O'Connor - I always love hearing him do Dear Prudence, Adam Moons singing, Kelly Craig joined in on bass for Day Tripper and Taxman - so awesome! Dave Ledoux hopped on the Kit for Norwegian wood.

Dan Mooney was the life and spirit of the party. So great to see Derick Fage out! Shawn Tavenier and Nick Gauthier singing I've got a feeling together just made me smile from ear to ear. My Saturday night buddies even made it out after a late night last night: Dave Kalil hopped up on keys, did some great background singing and Todd Huckabone was behind the kit! Its been way too long since I've played with Todd on drums and like usual he nailed it, plus Garney played some great bass.  What a cool moment to have Brian Cooper singing get back and Hey Jude with us. It was as it has been in the past, a magical moment when Jeff Rogers belted out With a little help from my friends. Every time he does that I get a shiver. Unbelievable!

Of course the whole night was full of wonderful moments. A special thanks goes out to the Break Trio (Peter Voith, Shane McEwan, and Jeff Rogers) for letting us all crash their gig. They play the Prescott every Sunday.
