Sixty-Fourth song: Have a little faith in me

Today is Wednesday, the last day of rehearsals for the Blues in the Schools presentation for both the morning and afternoon classes I am teaching alongside my good friends Peter Voith and Shawn Tavenier.

Yesterday was a rough one in the afternoon because we felt that our grade 8 class was really losing interest and enthusiasm and it was getting really hard to focus their attention on the presentation. I always get a little stressed out about this since we have such a limited time with the kids and we need to make so much happen by the day we present. Shawn gave a talk at the end of yesterday's class stressing to the kids how important it was that they come to class the next day with a better attitude towards accomplishing our presentation.

Today was way better in the afternoon. We buckled down and got a lot more out of the grade eights that the day before. Just like every year I do this program, I sometimes wonder if Shawn, Pete and myself are going to make it through and every year we somehow manage to pull of a great presentation with both of our classes. I picked today's song in light of the theme of sticking with these kids and my two buddies and just having a little faith that things will work out for tomorrow’s presentation. “Have a little faith in me” by John Hiatt is one that I always enjoy singing and playing. It's just a great pop piano ballad.
