In 2009, Corey Sullivan and I were on tour in BC with Charlie Major, opening shows for the legendary ZZ Top! It was an unforgettable experience. Not only did Corey get to play Billy Gibbon's guitars but the two struck a friendship and a business relationship that is quite cool. Since then Corey has been called personally by Gibbons to design and make hand crafted guitar straps for ZZ Top.
My favourite memory of the tour is still the disagreement I had with Billy Gibbons about the colour of the tour bus. He said it was blue and I interrupted him, saying "Uh I think it's more of a green". He stopped talking and stared at me and I stared at him. Then he said "Well can we agree on aquamarine?"
I thought that was reasonable. I still think I was right and one of us was wearing cheap sunglasses. Thanks to Charlie for a unique and really fun musical opportunity!
