Song 229: Summertime by George Gershwin

I can still remember chuckling to myself a little when the delivery men asked for my address when they were moving my grand piano from my parent's place to my first home.  For the last 5 years we've lived on a street called Gershwin, a newer area in an older neighbourhood with artistic flair - it's funny that we found a place on Gershwin rather than Wharhol.  We're lucky to live in close proximity to family, which really helps out when you have a small child.

After a stretch of gloomy, rainy days, it's turned nice again and just in time for us to head out for a few days on a mini/ sort of working/ vacation with my wife's company in Montebello, Quebec.  I've been wanting to do a Gershwin song and this one seems right since we have a bit of summer left.  I couldn't sleep last night and started watching a few Chilly Gonzales videos - it was inspiring to watch him play so effortlessly on the piano, so I tried to channel that, relax and have a bit of fun improvising on this song today.
