I have always thought that the piano outro to Layla is such a beautiful piece of music all on it's own. It is easily one of my favourite piano parts in all of rock and roll history. It conjures up bittersweet emotion in me when I hear it. It also has a very cinematic feel to it and it is no wonder that it fits so perfectly nearing the end of the movie "Good Fellas."
But what is probably most incredible about this piano part is that it was written by the drummer - Jim Gordon, who suffered from severe schizophrenia and who tragically ended up murdering his mother after suffering a delusional spell. But even those with the darkest demons can still make beautiful things come to life.
