Song 314: White Cliffs of Dover

I feel very proud that both my grandfathers (Jack Sullivan and Christie Kealey) served in World War two. Though they are not around today, I still feel the privilege of a life of peace and freedom where I can now raise my own family.

I am fortunate enough that for my song of the day today, I was able to play a tune with my grandfather-in-law, 94 year old Art Boudreau, who is also a war veteran. He was part of the 1st Canadian Division, arriving in Scotland in 1939. He was involved in Operation Husky in 1943, the Allied invasion of Sicily, with the troops fighting up the peninsula of Italy.

He's also a great storyteller and plays a mean harmonica. He joins me today with his grandson Steve on the melodica (and a little cameo with his great-grandson Julian!)
