Song 350: Boxes (Charlie Winston)

Today, a giant package was delivered to our front door in a big cardboard box. My son Julian helped me bring it in and as he pulled the overstuffed cardboard paper from the box he was distracted enough not to notice the items inside (which Melanie quickly snuck away for Christmas). Julian had a heck of a time just playing with the paper and the box it came in. Right away I knew what song I would be doing for my song a day challenge as I watched and filmed the endless fun he had enjoying the simple joy of being an innocent child with a big box to play in.

About a year ago a friend of mine posted a link to this song by OFFICIAL CHARLIE WINSTON that he thought was amazing. I was curious and clicked on the link and he was right - this song really moves me. It's a work of art. One of my favourites of all time, I think. It really speaks to me as a human being on many different levels.

Much like life, the song starts off very simple, lyrically and musically and gets more complicated and challenging as it moves along. It's one of the hardest songs I've tried to tackle this year, and I hope I did it justice.
