Before he could play a single note, Tyler’s desire to perform started at the age of three singing an entire collection of Hank Williams songs from memory on a stingless guitar. His parents record collection was absorbed at an early age and by the time he was 13, he was playing piano in bars throughout the Gatineau Valley and Ottawa.

While he is well-known in Ottawa for his ongoing 20 year run of duelling piano shows, Tylers true passion in music is his craft as a singer and songwriter. His lyrical and melodic talent give audiences a personal connection to his songs which is coupled with his story telling ability and signature fast flying improvisational skills on piano.

With an impressive ability to learn by ear, Tyler’s music career has taken him on a lifetime of adventures which have included a 6 city tour of China, a Canada Day performance in Mali, Africa for the Canadian troops, as well as countless music festivals across Canada. He has backed up many artists including Charlie Major, Jim Cuddy, and William Prince.

During the pandemic, Tyler released a single entitled “Silver Lining” which resonated with his fans as a source of musical comfort during some dark and challenging times.  He also performed at the virtual Kemptville Live music festival in 2021, gave online workshops as part of the RBC Bluesfest Blues in the Schools program, played several dates with the Festival of Small Halls, and appeared on CBC Radio.

Tyler continues to balance life as a musician with a proud responsibility of fatherhood of his two young boys.

“He is fluent in so many ways: jazz, rock, blues, celtic folk, and pop. His commands of melody, harmony, rhythm and improvisation have always impressed greatly.  I was happy to book Kevin Hearn of the Barenaked Ladies as an opening act for Tyler’s CD release at the Black Sheep Inn. Tyler brought in a great crowd and sold out the place, playing an unforgettable show, as well as selling dozens of his latest CD.”
